Steel sheet pile walls are typically used for soil and water retention. A new additional function is that of a sustainable energy source. By equipping the sheet pile walls with the appropriate collectors, free energy can be extracted from the ground to easily heat or cool houses and buildings throughout the year.

Collectors for utilizing the sustainable energy source

When a sheet pile wall needs to be installed, we attach collectors in advance. These collectors circulate a special fluid. This is a completely closed system, meaning no fluids are introduced into or extracted from the ground.

The Heat Pump and the Compression

An electrically driven heat pump extracts the available energy from the ground, groundwater and/or surface water through the Energy Sheet Piles. These are infinite sustainable energy sources available throughout the year.

The heat pump takes the energy, brought in by the special fluid in the Energy Sheet Piles’ pipes, from a low temperature level to a high temperature level using a compressor, a pressure booster.

The heat pump uses a special medium, a refrigerant, that can transport heat. This heat is then delivered to a heating system in the home. This can include hot water for showers or baths or underfloor heating.

The Expansion Valve

The expansion valve, a pressure reducer, ultimately returns the refrigerant from a high temperature level to a low temperature level, allowing new energy to be extracted from the ground and/or water through energy sheet pules.

This system can achieve very high efficiencies of over 500%, because the majority of the required energy is obtained from sustainable sources. With this extremely sustainable solution, buildings can be heated year-round, and during warm periods, the system can also be reversed to provide cooling.
